JUNE UPDATE! GOOD NEWS!

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Thanks go out to all of you awesome prayer warriors who have been praying for our Kroger pick-up (see last post) ……we have our Kroger back. We were two long weeks without the everyday bread, dairy products, grocery dry goods and the meat that we had come to depend on from our Kroger pick-up four times a week.

However, God moved in a mighty way and delivered the pick-up back to us and now we pick-up 6 times a week and it is just AWESOME, OVER AND ABOVE….MULTIPLIED! WITH OUR CUP RUNNING OVER! God is not a half-way God and He is not a God of lack and He has never left the rightous forsaken nor begging bread ( or dairy, or groceries, or meat!) We are so grateful and blessed to have the finest grocery store on the planet in our corner. Kroger really cares about the community they serve and they prove it by being involved.

Please know that we still need your prayers as we are already in out “slow” time of the year as far as financial support. We have in the neighborhood of 6 thousand dollars worth of utility and operating expense payments due for June and there is about a thousand dollars in the ministry account at this writing. I do not say this to whine or beg…..I want you to be informed so you are in line for an opportunity to be a blessing and not to miss out on being able to lend a helping hand to folks in need. We are asking for tools to do this job. You can easily go to our “donate- now” button on our site and help right now. We appreciate your help and will continue to do the work here as long as God has those tools in place through good folks like YOU!

Please visit Charlotte or Roy on Facebook, too! We are excited about the opportunities to make new friends and have you keep up with the everyday goings on here at Wingard from a little bit more personal viewpoint.

URGENT! We Need Your Prayers!

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Since this ministry came to the Jackson area in 1990, we have been picking up the day-old bread and out-of-date dairy products from the Kroger store on County Line Road. This was a great thing for our home, because we house up to 42 people who are given three meals a day and snacks.

This adds up to 126 meals a day….give or take a few.

Not only are we able to feed the ministry, but we are also able to share our excess from Kroger with the daycare who is so kind to our young working mothers. We are also able to trade excess bread from Kroger for produce from local farmers in the spring and summer…..when we so desperately need  fruits & vegetables. We have been the best stewards we know how to and have used every usable part of the products we picked up from Kroger.

TODAY, we were told that we can no longer pick up from the Kroger on County Line in Ridgeland (or any other Kroger) because the regional manager gave our store to the organization that picks up at all the other Krogers in this area.

Now, we are seeking guidance on what to do because we will no longer have the bread, meat, milk, cheese, (and all the other wonderful things found in the dairy section of the store), the bakery products, the post-seasonal items, chips, snack cakes, and all the other things that we picked up every week day at the back door of our one wonderful Kroger store.

No one told us that we did anything wrong…..we just cannot pick-up because a mega-organization in this city thought they had to have our one little store to be complete, I guess!

Mississippi Food Network does not fit into our budget, because we do not have X-amount of dollars to spend on food and products every week and their inventory cost a certain amount per pound. We just do not know what to do at this point except pray and believe God for miracles.

I am making you all aware of the problem, so you can believe with us, pray for us, and, if you know any connections or have any ideas, please contact us so we have some direction. One of my main witnesses tools in this ministry is the fact that God feeds this home through people who care….we don’t need or want food stamps (EBT) cards here. The folks who live here see God supplying needs every day in this ministry. Kroger has been so good to us through that one little store for all these years and we do not know why Chuck Head made the decision or why Gleaners wanted one more store when they had so many, but God is in charge and…….

I’ll just run with the King if you don’t mind!

wayne with the children                Wayne & Wingard Home crew

I received a phone call this morning from a dear friend, “John Wayne” Blough in Brandon, MS. If any of you have read materials on our web site, you will know that Wayne and his family helped us with our son, Marcus. By help, I mean that I started taking Marcus out to Hilltop Painted Acres in Brandon, MS when he was only 11 to be trained in the “ways of the cowboys”. Wayne and his family are Christian folk and taught Marcus from the Bible, using the Word of God as a teaching tool for riding, caring for the horses, and roping. Our son was at an age in his life where he refused instruction from us, his parents- even though we are both ministers! But, he would receive from his cowboy friend and now, his life is changed forever because God used Wayne Blough and his C.O.W.B.O.Y.S. ministry to mentor Marcus. I tell you that to tell you this……..

Sometimes, we get so busy with “life” taking care of the stuff like working a job to provide a living for our family and getting through the “rearing children” and paying for their needs, that we put our “callings from God” on the back burner. Sometmes, we just can’t see a way to do what we are called to do and take care of our family too. That is basically what Wayne was telling me this morning, but God has spoken to him in the past few days- spoken in a “burning bush- thunder and lightening” sort of way. Wayne has a non-profit called the C.O.W.B.O.Y.S. inc and God has definitely given him a detailed plan on putting this back as a priority in his life.

Wayne has a burden in his heart for homeless and abused children……God has a plan……BRING BACK HILLTOP PAINTED ACRES!!!! Wayne and his family are sitting on the “promised land” and Hilltop Painted Acres WILL be again……because God said so!!! Get on board and be a part of the miracle that God is performing in Brandon Mississippi. Do it because it is the right thing to do and because it is for the children. We know his program works, because Wayne has always welcomed and helped the homeless children from our ministry; and, of course, he helped Marcus.

Wingard Home Gets a New Roof!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Thank-you’s go out once more to the Morgan Foundation ……this time, for the money to provide our main house on West Street with a fine metal roof. We had so many leaks that we did not have enought pots to catch the water: and now we have NO LEAKS !!!!  Don Sebren of Sebren’s Home Improvements gave us an awesome price on the roof and since we know him personally (he is also the youth pastor at Castlewoods Baptist Church) we KNOW that he is a man of integrity and sound Christian values. I always love doing business with one of God’s people.

Mr. Joel Price, of Southeastern Wood Products Co. brought a crew of his men and fixed the sagging ceilings in the main house of the West Street property. Thank God for Mr. Joel and his heart for the Lord. I tell you the truth, when his men told him about the severity of the situation at the house and let him know it was going to be a lot more trouble than expected to get it fixed, they had already told me that they did not think he was going to go for the fix-up project after that. Mr. Joel simply looked at them, once he heard their report, and said, “What do I think? Well, I think it is a wonderful opportunity to be a blessing!” What a man of God!!

We have so many projects going on here at the Ministry….and they are all going on at the same time, it seems. There are numerous opportunities for you to come over and use your talents to keep this place maintenanced. Joe Drake, from Pine Lake Baptist Church has also done extensive work on the entire property, as have Paul Atkins, and Darryl Thurman. God’s got an army, folks…..please remember these men in your prayers.

We are still gathering money for the house next door and need you all to pray for the owners so that their hearts would soften toward this ministry. At present, we have gathered approximately 19,000 of the 39,000 they are asking. We are believing God that they will cut that price down some more.

More later and some photos of the roof will soon be on the blog.

April 15, 2009 at the Wingard Home

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

The house next door, still sits next door and still belongs to Mark Samsell. We have received 15,000 of the 39 being asked for it and have also checked to make sure the city is ok with the fix-up possibilities-and they are. We are waiting on God to give us further instructions in the matter.

Are you praying for us? Are you praying that Mark Samsell’s heart will be made tender to the plight of the homeless and to the needs of the ministry in this matter? Are you praying that God’s will be done in this business matter? Are you really, really praying? We need you to join with us as partners in prayer agreeing that God will be glorified in this matter and in all that this ministry does for the homeless and hurting who come here for healing and help.

 JOBS…….

We have some really good people here right now and they are seeking employment. If you can assist someone with a job, that would be an awesome thing that you have done…..to give someone a chance to begin to make their way in this world by working and being accountable. I will list a few and something about them in this post and pray for you that God will move in your heart to give one of these folks an opportuity to work and make a living for themselves. Listed below are a list of the folks we have who are looking for a JOB AND THEIR AREA OF EXPERTISE:

BRITTNEY GIBBS/ CASHIER, FOOD SERVICE, FAST LEARNER, 19 YEARS OLD

BRIAN LAWSON/ FORK LIFT DRIVER/STAND UP OR SIT DOWN/ WILL DO FACTORY WORK

MARY MCFARLAND/ LOTS OF FACTORY WORK IN SUPERVISOR & INSPECTOR POSITIONS/ GREAT RESUME  !!!!

RACHEL CASSATT/ LOTS OF FOOD INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE/CASHIER/VERY PEOPLE ORIENTED

DARRYL THURMAN/ HOUSE PAINTING SUB-CONTRACTOR LOOKING FOR JOBS TO DO OR TO BID ON

PAUL ATKINS/ HOME REPAIR AND FIX-UP SUB-CONTRACTOR/GODLY MAN WHO LOVES JESUS MAKES A GREAT WORKER WHO CAN BE TRUSTED.

BOTH PAUL AND DARRYL HAVE  DONE SOME BEAUTIFUL WORK FOR THE MINISTRY AND ARE VERY REASONABLE IN THEIR BIDS……….YOU SHOULD GIVE THEM A TRY!

I am really praying that these folks all find a way to honestly support themselves and their families…….Paul has children, Darryl has children, Brian is expecting a child in September, & Rachel has three children. Spread the word, call me if you need to…..601-906-1976

This house you see in the photos is next door to our 1279 N. West St. ministry - it was a two story rent-a-room boarding-type house (1265 N. West St.) which has always been filled to the roof with crack deals, dope-smoking parties, prostitution, drunks, gun fights, and several killings.

We have prayed for the landlord to clean it up many times, but the landlord chose NOT to change it. We, now, have the opportunity, however, to purchase the building and land and we feel that this is exactly what God has ordained to happen to the house. We are claiming that house for God’s work; NO longer will it house the enemy!

The owner has finally agreed to sell and said that we can purchase the property for 39,000 dollars. If you break that down, all we need is 39 people to give a thousand dollars- tax deductible for you or your business, and a God-send for the ministry.

Please pray about this and get some feet on those prayers! If you can’t help, tell someone else about it, and maybe they can help–the “gift of gab” is one of those talents that God gives to some! ……use it to HIS glory.

I will keep you updated, you are encouraged to e-mail me and I can give you updates or answer your questions about it. My e-mail is     wwjdcaw@aol.com

Above are three picture of the house-I have had a contractor look at the house and the fire damage to the north room on the second story is very fixable.

The “Calvary” Has Arrived !!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

We are so very excited to tell you the good news! Our cry for help has been heard and you are calling and responding to the needs here at Wingard Home. Praise God for you!

This is not a one time shot, though; God wants you involved and you know that. We have met some awesome people in the past week……the timing was perfect for all of us. God used this dilema and was glorified in it as he turned everything around to bring us “out of the valley” and back up the mountainside.

One of the wonderful friends we have made during this “storm” is Amanda Wells, an incredible Mississippi writer who came to do an article on the Home. She has a blog called “Shamelessly Southern” where you can find a link to her article on Wingard. The beautiful photos were taken by Melanie Thortis, a very talented young photographer, who knew just how to capture the spirit of the Home and our people. All things have indeed worked together for good….and you know that we certainly love the Lord in the good times and the bad.

We have also received a call from the owner of Mac’sCove . This magnificent clothing wholesale fashion designer is also a fine Christian woman who was looking for a way to do what she loves and glorify God “in the mix”. Desire was there- God’s perfect timing- we had a need- and God put us together. Please follow the link to her web site and see how Natasha McLaurin is helping the homeless at Wingard.

I have so many “praise reports” that I don’t know tell you all. I know that God is in control……and that is exactly the way I want it to stay.

From our Heart !!!

 Sept. 3, 2008

To All supporters of Wingard Home Ministries,

Quickly, I would like to bring you up-to-date on this ministry. Many of you already know that Roy and I and our family have been working in this ministry for 18 years in the city of Jackson (plus two years in Lawrenceville, Georgia). We have dedicated the rest of our life to serving God in whatever capacity God needs for us….in other words, “here I am Lord: send me!” There have been a lot of trials and tribulations for us this past year and the burden of two deaths in our family and several really bad accidents have been both heart breaking and time consuming.

We have continued to pray and put God at the very front of our existence and cling to the hope and peace that only Jesus Christ can give. We are weary and very tired in the flesh, but, OH! our spirits are willing and ready to charge forward. We have seen families put back together in the past year at our ministry…..and we have seen people, who are beat down by life’s troubles, give their lives to Christ and start living right! We are here to teach people about Jesus Christ and His forgiving grace and abounding love. Lives always change for the better when Jesus is in charge.

For this reason, we are both perplexed and saddened by what we see happening at the ministry. A couple of months ago, I had to send out a plea for help in order to pay the high summer electric bill. We were able to pay it late- but it was paid…..until the next one came and it was higher than the last one! At this point, I asked God if this was the correct order of business or was I missing something. We are NOT extravagant at this home: we spend money wisely and are accountable for every penny. Not having resources to do the appointed job is not of God. We are supposed to ministering and helping….not begging and struggling!!

On the 19 th of this month, the power will be cut off because we have not the money in the account to pay the bills. Times are tough everywhere and here is no exception. Our phone bills are past due, our water bills are past due, and we juggle the ones we can keep current. Gas for the vehicles has just gone through the roof so we have tried to cut back on the trips we make around town in service to the folks here.

We have huge churches calling us to help the homeless people who have come to them for help; and, when we have the space, we take them. These huge churches do not send one penny of mission support for this ministry, but they write checks of support for thousands of dollars a month to the over seas missions. Something is wrong with this picture, don’t you think?

We and our family are willing to work and live here in inner city. We are willing to take referrals of the homeless and needy who come to your door for assistance. We are willing to be volunteers and not take a fat paycheck out of the donations. We are willing to give up our life as a “normal American family” and to work 24/7 for God’s work here- to preach the Gospel to a dying and desperate nation.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO DO?

To help this ministry is an honor and a privilege…..you know you are putting your resources into something good and something right here; where you can gage the success for yourself.

If you think we are doing a good job, then support it.

We are here!

Dedicated to work for Christ, on the mission field…..the one that is right in your back door.

We love Jesus, we love Jackson, MS and we absolutely love seeing the homeless and battered get jobs and get on their feet.

Won’t you join us in this good work for Christ?

Opportunities abound for Missions!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

In the book of 1st John 3:17, God clearly gives instructions through His Word:

“But whoever has this world’s good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?”

Here at Wingard Home, we find ourselves in the unique position of having a need ourselves in order to continue helping those in need.

To house and care for the homeless who live here, we need to have essentials like electricity, water, gas, and food. We know that so many of you would help and, indeed, look for opportunities to help………if you only knew what we need. This is an opportunity for you to bless God by helping with needs of the destitute……and the folks who live at Wingard won’t stay destitute, because our program teaches hard work, assuming responsibility for your own actions, respect for authority, advancing educational  persuits, and  learing how to spend, save and budget money–we like to call it a hand-up instead of a hand-out!

If you help your neighbor, there are certain promises in the Word of God …………

“If there be among you a poor man of one of your brothers within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother: But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants…….You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him: because that for this thing the LORD your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you put your hand to. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.”                            Deuteronmy  15: 7,8,10, & 11

Your opportunity is now! Will you be a part of someone’s miracle? Isn’t it a joy to be able to help someone who is trying to help themselves?  Your assistance is very much needed and appreciated by all who live and volunteer at the Wingard Home Ministies.

“Welcome to Wingard Home”

April Showers….and tornadoes…and thunderstorms…and NO Electricity!!!

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

We have had quite a month here at Wingard Home. There is not a lot of “strange” goings -on, but we always have a report to make. Lives are being changed for the better and souls are being saved from hell! In one of the parables Jesus told about the shepherd who left the 99 sheep in the flock and went out after that 1 sheep who had gone astray………one soul saved from hell is certainly worth our time and resources.

We are blessed to have opportunities to tell you about the ministry we have here and so blessed to have opportunities to serve God each day through the resources and tools you provide. God called us to serve here day and night every day ministering to people who have given up on productive lives…….God may have chosen you to help in some other way. We all have talents and resources that differ and God wants to pour Himself out over this wicked world by using your life as a vessel for His mighty healing power…….are you with us? Let’s Do It!!

For the whole Jackson area, the month started out with, with some really bad weather and a lot of destruction….especially in north Jackson. We had no damage to speak of; except that we were without electricity for about 5 days. We are so blessed to have a generator from the Katrina days.

On April 25 and 26, we were supposed to have more thunderstorms and more rain. We were also supposed to a group of nursing graduates come over to do some “outside projects”. They came….and the rain stayed away, praise God for the awesome group who came and for all the projects they completed. John-Israel was on hand with his camera to capture the day in photos. The week before we had about four nursing grads come to work organizing our library, but we have no photos of that project to share. All three groups just amazed us with their eagerness to serve and their joyful spitits. We have a wonderful photoshow about that day to share with you…..just click on the following link and choose the Sunny Day Projects photo show from the selection. While you are there, you can view any of our photo shows.

Sunny Day Projects

On Saturday morning, 4/26/08, Crossgates Hands of Hope was due to come and build a playground in conjunction with the Crossgates Ladies Ministry, who designed and funded the project. The storms moved in early that morning, and, as it began to rain, all the volunteers began showing up…..truck after truck after car load! They moved inside an area where we plan to build the family dorms and began to do the necessary demolition work on that project until the rain slacked up…..and it did slack up! Prayer and God’s grace, my friends. God sent Crossgates there to do a job and He never leaves nor forsakes us…..that rain JUST HAD TO GO! I can’t even describe the miracles that happened after that so I will invite you to judge for yourselves by clicking on the following photo show link and choose the photoshow that says: God Bless the Day that Crossgates Came Over to Play!

Crossgates

If you would love to be a part of this ministry support system, know this, Crossgates Hands of Hope is coming back to construct family dorms. They need all sorts of building supplies. If you feel led to help with this, e-mail me and I can e-mail you back a list of supplies needed OR you could purchase and send us a gift card to Lowes or Home Depot and we will get them to the purchasing person with Hands of Hope at Crossgates.

I am Charlotte Wingard             wwjdcaw@aol.com

God richly bless you!

A Prayer!

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Someone sent me this prayer this morning and I just wanted to pass it along to you. Do you ever get the feeling that you are the only one in the world trying to do what is right and you stand all alone?

Knowing that this minister prayed this prayer in public let’s me know that I am definitely NOT alone- there is a Holy Army in this world and we are living by the Word of God. We can’t water it down:we can’t dilute or pollute it…..God’s Army armed with God’s Word. We are a mighty force to be reckoned with in this dark world. Be blessed this day, my friend, and know that you are NOT alone.

Enjoy:

Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the

Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but

this is what they heard;

‘Heavenly Father,

We come before you today

To ask your forgiveness and

To seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says,

‘Woe to those who call evil good’

But that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium

And reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and

Called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness

And called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn

and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists

And called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline

Our children and called it

Building self este em.

We have abused power

And called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor’s

Possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air

With profanity and

Pornography and called it

Freedom of speech and expression.

We have ridiculed the time

Honored values of our

Forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God,

And know our hearts today;

Cleanse us from every sin

And set us free.

Amen!’

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked Out

during the prayer in protest.

In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is

pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 Of those

calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving

international

requests for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea

Commentator Paul Harvey aire d this prayer on his radio Program, ‘The

Rest of the Story,’ and received a larger response to this program

than any

other he has ever aired.

With the Lord’s help, may this prayer sweep over our Nation and

wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called ‘one

nation under God.’

Wed. morning, August 22, 2007

Blessings to you in the precious name of Jesus. My challenge to ME this morning is to write in this BLOG everymorning and keep you totally up to date on the goings-on here at the Wingard Home.

We are full of folks today; except, one room in the women’s dorm. It is empty only because we are in the early stages of replacing the flooring, plug-in recepticles, lighting, and will then re-plaster and paint. When we are finished, we can add two women or a woman and her children. We sure could use some volunteers on this project. Our spare time is few and far between.

On Saturday of this past week, some of the ministry young folks were going to WalMart to get some supplies and were rear-ended by a guy driving way to fast in a Chevy Tahoe. The kids were in the little ministry car (a little Saturn donated by Laura Ford). I have a great respect for the Saturn product now, because everything about the car was crushed except the passenger and driver area. The kids walked away from the crash with only bad bruises and sore muscles. The car, of course is lost, and the man who hit them did not have insurance or a drivers lisense! The man should be in jail, in my opinion, but I don’t think he even got a traffic ticket……imagine what an example that set for my young people who are being taught to obey the law.

We had only liability insurance on the car, so please be lifting up our need for a gas saving car for ministry errands.

It has been a long hot summer with a lot of heat-related needs so please call us if you see a need or you can help with a need. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us ALL rejoice and be glad in it! You may be the only Jesus that someone sees today…….may you have VICTORY in the battlefield and on the mission field today!
